Custom Wood Decks in Live Oak
A custom deck is the difference between a backyard you walk past and a backyard you live in. At Live Oak Deck Builders, we design and build wood decks from the ground up — sized, shaped, and laid out around your home, your land, and the way you actually want to use the space.
Whether you're picturing a simple platform off the kitchen, a wraparound deck that follows a pasture or tree line, or a multi-level outdoor living area with built-in seating, we build it to code and build it to last in the North Florida climate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most custom pressure-treated pine decks run $32-$58 per square foot installed; cedar and hardwood options run higher depending on the species. Multi-level layouts and built-in features add to that. We give you an exact written number before we start.
Yes. Whether your lot falls under a city building department or the county's, we prepare the plans, submit for permit, and schedule every required inspection so you're not chasing paperwork.
A single-level deck in the 200-400 square foot range typically wraps in 1-2 weeks after permit approval. Wraparound or multi-level designs run 3-4 weeks, sometimes longer with weather delays.
Pressure-treated pine is the budget-friendly standard and holds up fine with regular sealing. Cedar resists rot naturally but costs more; tropical hardwoods like ipe cost the most but need almost no upkeep besides oiling.
General liability and workers' compensation, both of which we'll show you documentation for before the crew ever sets foot on your property.
Yes — sloped lots and mature trees are common on the larger properties we build on, and we frame around both rather than clearing what doesn't need to go.
Constantly. We map well locations, septic drain fields, and existing fence lines before we ever set a single footing, which matters a lot on the rural acreage common throughout our service area.
Material selection, square footage, framing details, railing style, permit costs, and labor — all itemized so you know exactly what you're paying for and why.
Plan on cleaning and resealing every 1-2 years. Skipping it in this climate is the single fastest way to end up with a gray, splintering deck years before it should look that way.
Yes, every custom build we complete is backed by our workmanship warranty in addition to any lumber or hardware warranty from the manufacturer.
Absolutely — a lot of our custom builds include one screened-in zone for bug-free seating alongside an open sun deck for grilling or lounging.
